What is phishing?

Phishing is when someone creates a website that looks like a replica of a known website in the hope that you will enter your user information so they can steal it.

For example if you go to MySpace, they would make a clone of the MySpace home page everything would look exactly the same but when you enter in your credentials nothing would happen and they would have your information.

What can you do?

Always be aware of the Address you are at. 

For example when you go to MySpace the “Address” is “http://www.myspace.com“.

If you follow a link that is suppose to go to myspace and the “Address” is “http://www.myspace.24tsx.com“ you know that it is a phishing site because everything in MySpace’s website will end with “myspace.com”.
